Manual orders let you place a print order yourself, without the public sale page. Use them for sales you've made directly (in person, an Instagram DM, a gallery), and for your own copies — gifts, samples, exhibition stock, press. The order goes through theprintspace's normal production pipeline and is charged to your saved card on the next merchant rollup.
Where to start
- Open any product from the Products page (click Details, or the card itself).
- Click Create manual order (
/products/:id/buy). Disabled until the product has at least one live variant.
The manual order flow
- Pick the variant — choose Size, Frame and Quantity. Frame buttons are Print only plus one per pre-made colour (Framed Black / Framed White / Framed Oak). All Escher prints are Giclée — there's no paper picker. Unavailable size/frame combinations are greyed out.
- Add to cart — click Add to cart; items collect in the manual order cart (separate from the customer-facing storefront cart). A View cart button shows the count.
- Open the cart (
/cart) — the Manual order page; review lines and adjust quantities. - Enter the customer — in the Customer card, Name is required; Email (optional) and Phone (optional). If you add an email, the customer gets a tracking notification when the order ships.
- Enter the delivery address — in the Delivery address card, pick a saved address or type a new one. Set the destination country.
- Place manual order — the order is created unpaid and queued for production. It's charged on the next merchant rollup (see below).
What it costs
Once you've set a destination country, the cart fetches a live quote from the server — the same pricing path the order itself uses, so the figure shown is the real charge, not a retail estimate. The breakdown can include:
- Production — print plus framing.
- Delivery.
- Add-ons — COA, custom inserts and branded packaging, where the product/account has them.
- VAT — based on your billing country and the delivery address.
- Import duties (DDP) — for destinations where you have DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) enabled, duties/GST/handling are added so the recipient pays nothing on arrival.
You pay theprintspace's direct cost — customer-facing retail prices don't apply.
When you're charged
The manual order is created unpaid and is not charged at checkout. Your saved card on file is charged later, on the next merchant rollup — the same sweep that bills your Shopify orders. Make sure a card is on file (see Manage your saved card) or the rollup can't collect.
What ships
Identical to a customer order: the same Giclée papers, framing, COAs, signatures and branded packaging. The recipient sees exactly what your customers see.
Where it appears afterwards
Manual orders land in Orders (/orders) alongside your customer orders. The corresponding charge appears on your invoice once the rollup runs.
