What 700 print drops taught us about selling art online
If you have ever released work quietly, put it on your website, mentioned it once, and waited, you already know the feeling. The work is good. The response is thin.
This blog exists to fix that. Over a handful of articles we cover the most useful things we know about selling art prints online. No fluff, and nothing you need to pay for. Before we start, it is worth saying why you can trust any of it.
Who we are
theprintspace was founded in London in 2007 as one of the world's first online fine art print services. In 2015 we built one of the first print-on-demand store integrations for artists. Since then we have opened our own production facilities in London, Düsseldorf and New York, so everything is printed and framed in house.
In 2023 we started our own marketing agency inside theprintspace. Since then our team has strategised more than 700 art and print drops for some of the highest selling artists on social media.
Everything on this blog comes from that work. It is what we actually see happen, across hundreds of real releases, not theory.
The four lessons
Why print drops sell so much art. What changed in how people buy art, and why a release with a deadline outsells an always-open shop.
The content that sells during a drop. The seventeen types of post that do a job, which build an audience, which convert, and when to use each.
Your brand, not ours. Why so many services quietly put their own name on your work, and what to do instead.
World-class fulfilment, in your name. How the printing, framing and delivery actually works when your brand is on everything.
If you would rather not wait
You can already set up a free store and your first print drop in minutes, marketing plan included. Or start by finding out what your audience is worth: our sales estimator reads your real engagement and projects what a drop would earn you.
