The cart is the manual order cart — used by you to place orders for sales you've made yourself (in person, Instagram DM, exhibitions, samples, gifts). It's not the customer-facing storefront cart, which lives on your Shopify store and goes through Shopify's checkout. See How to place a manual order.
Cart button
When the manual-order cart has items, a Cart button with a count badge appears in the page header on the Products pages (/products and a product's own page). Click it to open the cart page (/cart).
The cart page
Everything is on one page, titled Manual order:
- Customer card — name, plus optional email and phone. If you give an email, the customer gets a tracking notification when the order ships.
- Delivery address card — pick a saved address or enter a new one. The delivery name defaults to the customer name, so you don't type it twice. You can tick Save this address for next time.
- Summary panel (sticky on desktop) — your line items, the cost breakdown, and the buttons.
Line items
Each line in the Summary shows:
- Product thumbnail (links to the product).
- Size and framing — e.g. "framed" or "print only", plus an Editioned badge where relevant.
- Quantity stepper — the − / + buttons (1 to 20 per line).
- Price — the retail price × quantity for that line. This is the retail figure, not what you're charged. The amount you actually pay is the cost breakdown below.
- Remove — the bin icon clears that line.
There is no "Clear cart" button. The cart empties itself automatically once an order is placed.
Cost
The bottom of the Summary shows what the order will actually cost you:
- Before you enter a delivery country, you see an Estimated total (based on retail prices).
- Once a delivery country is set, the app fetches a live quote from the production system and shows the real breakdown: Production, Delivery, Add-ons (COA / inserts / branding, where applicable), VAT, and Import duties (DDP) for destinations where you have DDP enabled. The bottom line is the actual total the order will be charged.
This is the wholesale fulfilment cost (print, frame, add-ons, delivery, VAT, and any duties) — there's no customer paying retail, so it's billed to you.
Placing the order
Click Place manual order. This needs a customer name and a delivery address (line 1, city, country). The order:
- Is not charged immediately. It's created as an unpaid order and charged on the next merchant rollup against your saved card on file — the same way Shopify orders are billed. See How to manage your saved card.
- Goes through the normal production pipeline.
After it's placed, you're taken straight to the new order's detail page (/orders/:id). There's no separate review or confirmation step. The cart is cleared.
Continue shopping takes you back to products without placing anything.
Persistence
Cart items are saved in your browser and persist between sessions until you place the order or remove them. Useful if you're building up an order over a few days.
