How to write artwork titles and descriptions

Each artwork has a title and a description. Both appear on the product page in your store. The title is something you write; the description is auto-generated from the choices you make in the wizard, and you can edit it.

Titles

The Artwork Title(s) card in the wizard is where you name each artwork.

  • A default name is suggested for you, taken from the uploaded file name (with the extension stripped). You can keep it or type your own.
  • A title is required for every artwork — you can't continue past the Artwork Title(s) card until all of them have a name.
  • Keep it short. The title shows on the product page, on the Certificate of Authenticity, and in the Shopify product URL.

Descriptions

The Artwork Description card builds the description for you. A banner reads: "This has been auto-generated based on all the other choices you've made."

It assembles a structured block from your wizard choices:

  • The paper and print type (for example Giclée or C-type).
  • A "Sizes available" list — each size, framed or unframed, and whether it's an open edition or an edition of a set number.
  • A line about the Certificate of Authenticity, if you've included one.
  • "Safe, tracked delivery guaranteed worldwide."

You can:

  • Edit the generated text in the box — add your own copy, tweak wording, reorder.
  • Regenerate — this resets the box back to the auto-generated version, discarding your edits.

The description is stored as HTML, so any formatting you add is preserved on the live store page. On the Products list and Product View in the admin, the description is shown as plain text with the markup stripped out, so the preview there may look flatter than the live page.

Editing after publishing

Titles are changed through the artwork details step in the wizard — open Edit product to get back into it.

Descriptions are edited from Edit Options → Artwork Descriptions, under the Store design and content section of the edit hub. This option is page/drop-scoped:

  • It's available when you edit a drop.
  • It does not appear on the product-only edit hub.
  • The Product View page is read-only — there's no inline description editor there. To change the copy, use Edit product to open the wizard.

Re-publish after any change for it to take effect on your store.
