Can you get a free test strip before a large print?
There isn't a separate free test-strip service in the order flow, so it's best to plan for a small, low-cost check rather than expecting a complimentary one.
The good news is there are two practical, inexpensive ways to test before committing to a large print:
- Order a small print of your image on your intended paper. A small print is far cheaper than a large one and shows you exactly how your file reproduces — colour, density, contrast and sharpness.
- Order a paper sample pack, which lets you compare how different papers render colour, tone and texture so you can choose the right stock.
Reduce the cost of getting it right
Before you order anything, you can do a lot for free: 1. Calibrate your monitor (D65 white point, moderate brightness, gamma 2.2). 2. Soft-proof with theprintspace's downloadable ICC profiles to preview your chosen paper on screen and fix obvious issues first.
Doing both means your eventual small test print is more likely to confirm the result rather than reveal a problem — saving you a re-print.
