Understanding your print product costs

pricingmargin

Your product cost is the combined amount theprintspace charges you to produce, brand, and package an order. Subtract it from the price you charge to see your margin.

What makes up your cost

On the Recommended print sizes & pricing card, fulfilment costs are broken out per size into separate columns rather than a single figure:

  • Print Cost — paper, ink, and production for the print itself.
  • Frame Cost — framing, where the variant is sold framed. Zero for unframed prints.
  • COA / Letter / Branding — the per-order add-ons below, combined into one column.
  • Avg. Delivery Cost — average of your EU/USA/Canada and Rest of World delivery rates for that size.

The Profit and Margin (%) columns to the right show what's left after those costs are subtracted from your retail price.

Add-on costs

Add-on unit costs are pulled live from our pricing system in your billing currency, so the figures you see match what you'll actually be charged. The GBP rates are below; EUR and USD shown for reference. Other currencies resolve from your billing country.

  • Paid COA (Certificate of Authenticity) — one design is free; premium designs cost £2.08 (€2.44 / $2.86) per certificate. See About certificate design options.
  • Custom letter / insert£2.08 (€2.44 / $2.86) per unique insert.
  • Branded packaging£3.12 (€3.43 / $4.06) per order for branded envelope/packaging, where enabled.

These add to the cost only when you switch them on. If live pricing is briefly unavailable, the wizard falls back to these same default figures so it never blocks.

What's not included in the per-size cost columns

  • Delivery / shipping — the Avg. Delivery Cost column is an average for reference. Delivery is charged separately per order, by region. See About dropship shipping rates.
  • VAT / sales tax — applied based on the customer's region at order time.

How to set retail prices

For a healthy margin, pick a retail price that covers:

  1. Your fulfilment cost (print + frame + add-ons above).
  2. Your delivery cost to the customer (pass through, mark up, or absorb).
  3. The platform / payment fees for your sales channel.
  4. Your desired margin.

The pricing card seeds each size with an AI-recommended retail price that accounts for these factors. You can edit any price before publishing.
