Marketing plan what-ifs — missed steps, missing tools, and common worries

early access

Quick answers to the questions artists actually ask about marketing plans.

What if I miss a step?

Nothing breaks. The card shows an honest Not done chip and the rest of the plan carries on. If the step still makes sense, do it late — a launch post two days after launch still sells prints. If it doesn't (a countdown story after launch), let it go; the next card matters more than the missed one. The plan is a coach, not a contract.

What if I fall behind or my dates change?

Use Revise plan. It regenerates the schedule around your current sale dates, keeps everything you've already marked done, and keeps your tracked links working. If the drop's dates themselves changed, revise after updating the drop.

What if I don't have email software?

Then say so in the plan questions ("do you have an email list?") and the plan simply won't include email steps — you get a social-only plan. You don't need email software to run a drop.

That said: email is consistently the highest-converting channel artists have, because the list is people who already opted in. The holding-page signup form collects addresses for you from day one — so even without email software today, a drop builds the list that makes your next drop stronger. When you're ready, connect an email platform under Settings → Connections.

Why does the plan want me to connect my email platform / Instagram?

Two reasons, both optional:

  1. Automatic done-tracking — a sent campaign or a published Instagram post marks its step done by itself, so the plan stays truthful without you ticking boxes.
  2. Measured insights — the analytics can include your actual reach, profile views and email opens for the drop window, and show how much of your audience the campaign cut through.

Without connections everything still works; you mark steps done by hand and the analytics stick to traffic and orders.

Why can't I connect X (Twitter) / TikTok / Pinterest the same way as Instagram?

Every platform you select gets its own tracked links, so clicks and orders from X (Twitter), TikTok, Facebook, Threads and Pinterest are all attributed. What those platforms don't offer is the activity detection used for auto-done (that currently works for Instagram posts and email campaigns), so steps on other platforms are marked done manually. Traffic from their in-app browsers is still recognised by referrer even without tags. There's nothing to connect for these platforms — posting with the tracked link is all the setup they need.

What if I post without the tracked link?

The visit still counts — it's classified by referrer (Instagram/Facebook/TikTok/search) or as direct. You lose the per-post detail only. If the plan detected your post but its link earned zero clicks, the card shows Wrong link used so you know for next time. Details: What are UTM tracked links.

What's a broadcast channel and should I say yes?

An Instagram broadcast channel is the one-to-many messaging channel some creators run. Answer yes only if you actually have one — the plan then adds a broadcast message to each posting day, with its own tracked link so those clicks count separately.

What about early access?

If your drop has early access enabled, the day-before email becomes an Early access email ("the page is live for you now") instead of a plain pre-launch email, and your early-access page carries its own links. The launch-day email then goes to non-openers.

Can I do fewer posts? It feels like a lot.

Yes — the posts and emails questions in the plan setup control volume. The plan spaces however many you choose across the window, always keeping launch day and closing day. One card per day at most: the story and broadcast variations ride the day's post card rather than adding extra tasks.

Do reminders spam my buyers?

No — reminders are the daily progress email to you (toggle next to Edit plan), summarising yesterday's numbers and today's actions while the drop runs. Nothing is ever sent to your audience by the plan; you post and send everything yourself.

Can my manager see the plan without an account?

Yes — the plan can be shared as a password-protected read-only link (plan + analytics). Use Email plan summary to send it.
