These are the day-to-day styling choices for a printed signature and edition number. You make them on the finishing step of the drop wizard — the card titled Signatures, numbering and mount boards (or Signatures and numbering when no variant is framed) — or, after publishing, from the edit hub tile Mount, signature & numbering.
Each control feeds straight into the print file, and the live preview on the left shows the exact result. The controls only appear once the relevant toggle is on; see how to print signatures and edition numbers onto artwork for the toggles themselves.
Size of signature
Four sizes set how wide the signature prints, as a fraction of the artwork width:
- Small — 6% of the artwork width. Subtle.
- Medium — 9%. Balanced. This is the default.
- Large — 12%. Prominent.
- XL — 15%. Boldest.
Because it's a fraction of the artwork, the signature scales with the print — the same choice looks consistent across every size variant.
Numbering size
Numbering size is set relative to the signature, not to the artwork, so the number scales with the signature you've chosen:
- Small — 60% of the signature.
- Medium — 80%. Balanced.
- Large — 100%. Matches the signature.
- XL — 120%. Larger than the signature.
If you turn numbering on without picking a size, it defaults to Medium.
Numbering font
The edition number is rendered in a handwriting font. Use the ← / → arrows to cycle through the bundled fonts; the sample box shows a representative number (e.g. 1/50) in the current font so you can match it to your signature's handwriting.
Your choice is saved on the signature itself, so the same font is used wherever that signature is applied, and it's read again when the print is composed. If you never pick one, a default handwriting font is used.
Signature / print numbering contrast
One contrast control covers both the signature and the number: High, Medium or Low.
You set the strength; the system picks light or dark ink automatically from what's behind the block — dark ink on a white border, and light ink sampled from the artwork when it sits over a dark image.
Where they sit on the print
Both print into the bottom border:
- Signature — at the right-hand end.
- Edition number — at the left-hand end (the opposite end to the signature).
What gets numbered
The number only renders on limited-edition variants. Whether a variant is framed or unframed doesn't matter — editions are recorded per artwork and size, so the matching unframed and framed variants of a limited edition both carry the number. Open editions never show a printed number, even with the numbering toggle on.
