How to upload your signature

signaturecoa

Your signature is used in two places: printed onto each artwork (next to the edition number, if enabled), and on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and your product page. Upload it during the drop wizard, manage saved signatures in the Media Library (left sidebar → Media Library), and pick which one to use per drop.

Required format

  • PNG or JPEG only. The upload accepts .png and .jpg/.jpeg. SVG is not accepted for signatures (unlike the logo upload, which does accept SVG).
  • PNG with a transparent background is recommended. A signature on a transparent background sits cleanly over the artwork and product page.
  • A clean white background also works, but a transparent PNG avoids any chance of a visible box around the signature.
  • Aim for a high-resolution file (around 200 dpi or better) so the signature stays crisp at large print sizes. This is guidance, not a hard limit.
  • Maximum file size 10 MB.

How to capture a clean signature

  1. Sign on plain white paper with a bold, solid pen — a thin or faint pen reads weak when printed.
  2. Photograph or scan at 300 dpi.
  3. In Photoshop (or similar), use the Magic Wand on the white area plus a Layer Mask to make the background transparent, then export as PNG.
  4. Crop tightly to the signature ink — keep empty space to a minimum.
  5. Upload in the colour you want; your signature's colour is kept exactly on the print, and the edition number is matched to it.

Path A: reuse the signature you set for prints

If you already chose a signature in the Signatures & numbering step, the next card asks:

Do you want to use the same signature on your product page and Certificates of Authenticity?

Choose Yes, use on page to reuse it, or No to leave it off the page, then Continue. This is the common path — no second upload needed.

Path B: upload or pick a signature

If no signature has been chosen yet, the card lets you:

  1. Pick one from From your library — a list of signatures you've already saved.
  2. Or upload a new one by dropping a file or clicking to browse. A new upload is added to your library and selected for this drop.

To change the signature later, use Edit options → Change signature, which opens a picker with Library and Upload new tabs.

Signature Library

The Media Library (left sidebar → Media Library) stores every signature you've uploaded. From here you can:

  • Upload new signatures (PNG, JPEG, or SVG accepted here; max 10 MB).
  • Star one to make it the default for new drops.
  • Delete signatures you no longer use.

Useful for multi-artist accounts, trying different styles per drop without re-uploading, and replacing an old signature without losing the original.

Where it appears

  • Printed onto the artwork — only if you enable signatures in the Signatures & numbering step, optionally with the edition number for limited editions.
  • On your product page and COA — when you opt in via the signature card (Path A "Yes", or by selecting/uploading a signature in Path B).

Hand-signing alternative

If you'd rather hand-sign each print individually, opt out of printed signatures in the wizard and arrange to sign physically before they ship. This requires a non-dropship workflow — contact theprintspace customer service to set it up.
