How signatures and edition numbers print onto artwork

signatureedition number

A digital signature can be printed directly onto each print, alongside an edition number for limited editions. This is separate from the certificate of authenticity — the signature lives on the artwork itself.

Signature file requirements

  • Format: transparent PNG (recommended) or JPEG when you upload inside the drop wizard. The Media Library also accepts SVG.
  • Background: a transparent PNG works best; a clean white background also works.
  • Strokes: solid and bold. A thin or faint pen reads weak when printed.
  • Crop: keep empty space around the signature to a minimum.
  • Colour: your signature's colour is kept exactly on the print, so upload it in the colour you want. The edition number is matched to it.

Upload signatures once in the Media Library (left sidebar → Media Library). Star one to make it the default for new drops. Per-drop, you then pick from this library.

How to enable for a product

The signature toggle lives on the finishing step of the drop wizard, alongside mount board and numbering.

  1. On the finishing step, tick Apply my signature to each print.
  2. Pick a signature — Choose signature opens the library, where you can select an existing one or upload a new PNG/JPEG. New uploads here don't change your default in the Media Library.
  3. To add an edition number, tick Number each print (shown only when at least one variant is a limited edition — open editions never get a number).
  4. Adjust the extra controls if you want: signature size, numbering size, numbering font, and contrast. A live preview cycles through your artworks so you can check the result.

Contrast is set as High / Medium / Low. We pick light or dark ink automatically from the background — light ink on dark artwork, dark ink on a white border.

The signature applies during printing. There's no manual hand-signing step in the dropship flow — the printed signature substitutes for that.
