How to edit product previews

framingframe colour

The Product & variant choices option re-opens the framing and approval grid for a drop. From there you review each variant, change the per-artwork frame colour, and approve or reject what gets sold. The composite preview thumbnails and the lifestyle, in-room and table shots that appear on the live product page are produced automatically — you don't generate, upload, remove or reorder them.

What you can change here

In the edit hub, under Products and prices, click Product & variant choices. This re-enters the framing grid in approval mode ("Here are your product previews. Review and approve each variant."). For each artwork you can:

  • Change the frame colour — a per-artwork dropdown: Black, White or Oak.
  • Approve or reject each variant — tick the variants (size × framed/unframed) you want to sell and untick the rest.

The header shows a running count of approved, rejected and pending variants. When you're happy, click Approve selections and continue.

There are no Regenerate, Upload custom, Remove or drag-to-reorder controls on this card. Previews aren't individually editable images here.

How the preview thumbnails are built

The thumbnails in the grid are deterministic composites. They're drawn from the variant's configuration — moulding (frame), printed border, window mount and any signature/numbering — not from an AI image generator. Change the frame colour or border and the thumbnail re-composites to match. There's nothing to "re-roll".

What appears on the live product page

The images on the published product page are generated automatically by the shot pipeline when you publish. Each has a fixed role and a fixed order:

  1. Artwork — the plain print. Always Shopify position 1, so it's the thumbnail in collection grids.
  2. Lifestyle (landscape) shot.
  3. In-room (wall) shot.
  4. Table shot.

This ordering is set in code, not by you — there's no reorder UI, and you can't add, remove or replace these shots from the previews card.

Pushing changes live

After you've adjusted frame colours and approvals, push them to the storefront from the edit hub with Push to store (or Push edits to store if the drop is already published). See how to edit a published drop for the full edit-and-push flow.
