In the step-by-step order journey, the Print Size card lets you type the exact print dimensions. It comes after the Paper Type card (select images in the library → Order Prints → Choose step by step).
Entering a size
The card has:
- A unit toggle — Millimeters or Inches.
- A Width field and a Height field (labelled with the current unit, e.g. "Width (mm)").
Type either dimension and the other adjusts automatically to preserve your image's original aspect ratio — the card notes: "Changing one dimension automatically adjusts the other to preserve the original aspect ratio." The preview shows the uncropped image.
How to pick
- Choose Millimeters or Inches.
- Type a Width or Height; the other side updates to keep the ratio.
- When the size is valid, click Next.
Size limits per paper
The card validates your dimensions against the paper you chose. Too small or too large and it shows a message such as "Maximum size for Fuji Matt is …" and blocks Next until you adjust. When the size is in range, the card shows the max for that paper as a hint.
Quick Setup (guided path)
If you chose Use our recommendation instead, the Quick Setup card offers three preset sizes — Small (A4 / Letter), Medium (A2 / Poster), and Large (A1 / Statement) — alongside a Framed / Unframed toggle, rather than free dimension entry.
Pricing per size
Larger prints cost more, scaling with paper area and (if framed) frame moulding cost. Prices live-update as you change size or framing options, and the final total is confirmed by the checkout quote.
Choosing what the size refers to
The size step has a Set the size of anchor with two modes:
- My image — you type your image's print size (aspect ratio locked to the file), then add borders per side on top; the Overall paper size readout shows the final sheet, and the price follows the paper size.
- Final paper — you type the finished sheet size and the image plus borders fit inside it.
Sizes that don't match your image's shape
Unlock the aspect ratio to type width and height independently (for example A3 from a 3:2 photo). When your typed size differs from the image's shape, you'll choose between Crop image (with a drag-to-position crop preview) or Add border before continuing — nothing is cropped without you seeing and choosing it.
Size limits and defaults
- The minimum print size is 90 mm per side on every paper, so square sizes like 100×100 mm or 150×150 mm are orderable.
- The size step defaults to your file's native print size (from its embedded dimensions and DPI) rather than a fixed length, so what you see first is what the file was prepared for.
