A mount board is the surround that sits between your print and the frame. In the drop flow you choose whether to add one, what colour it is, and how much of the printed border it covers. This is separate from the bespoke archival mounting service — it's an in-wizard decision you make per drop.
Where you set it
Mount boards are set on the Finishing Touches step of the drop wizard. When your drop has framed variants the step is titled "Signatures, numbering and mount boards". If no variants are framed, the mount-board controls are hidden and the step is just "Signatures and numbering".
Mount board selections apply to framed variants only. Unframed prints are unaffected.
Your mount-board choice applies to every artwork in the drop, the same as your signature and numbering choices.
Add or skip
There are two top-level options:
- No mount boards
- Add mount boards
If you add mount boards, you must pick a colour before you can continue — there is no default.
Colours
Four mount colours are available:
- White
- Black
- Cream
- Ivory
Sizing
How the mount is sized depends on whether you've set a printed border on the Borders step.
With a printed border configured, you choose how much of it the mount covers:
- Cover border — the mount covers the entire printed border.
- Half and half — the mount covers half the printed border, leaving the inner half of the border visible.
With no printed border, the mount carries its own size and creates the border it sits on. You pick:
- A size — Small or Large.
- A distribution — Even (equal on all sides) or Bottom weighted (larger on the bottom).
The live preview on this step updates as you change the colour and sizing, so you can see the result before continuing.
