You can push a single product to your Shopify store on its own, without publishing a whole drop. Use this when you've created or edited a standalone product and want it on your store (or want recent edits synced).
Standalone pushes arrive in Shopify as drafts — you polish the title, description and SEO there, then set the product to Active when you're ready for shoppers to see it. See Will my product be live when I push it to Shopify? for the full picture.
From the Products page
Each new product card has four actions: Details, Edit, Publish, and Delete.
The Publish button (upload icon) is active when there's something to push — either the product has never been pushed, or it has unpublished edits. If a product is already Live with no pending changes, the button is greyed out (disabled), not hidden.
Click Publish to send the product to Shopify.
From the edit hub
When editing a product in the wizard, the publish button is labelled:
- Push to store — on first publish.
- Push edits to store — once the product is already on Shopify.
It's disabled when there are no unpublished changes, so you can't re-push an unchanged product.
What happens when you push
Pushing is asynchronous:
- The button is accepted and a toast titled "Publishing to Shopify" confirms "Your product is being published in the background."
- The actual write to Shopify runs server-side — it isn't instant.
- On your next page refresh, the status badge updates to reflect the result.
The product card flips out of its "needs pushing" state straight away, but the store write completes a moment later in the background.
A first push of a standalone product creates it in Shopify as a draft (you'll get a "Your products are in draft" email with a link to your store's drafts list). Pushing edits to an already-pushed product never changes its active/draft status — whatever you've set in Shopify stays.
Status badges
A badge on each product card tells you where it stands:
- Live — synced to your Shopify store, no pending changes. Note this means "on your store", not necessarily visible to shoppers — a freshly pushed standalone product sits in Shopify as a draft until you activate it.
- Changes pending — on Shopify, but edited since the last push. Push again to sync.
- Publishing — queued and ready to go to Shopify, not yet live.
- Draft — never pushed.
- Legacy — migrated from your previous account, read-only here (no push).
One product, shared across drops
A product is a single canonical entity. If the same product is used in several drops, pushing it updates that one Shopify product everywhere — there's no separate copy per drop. Edit and push once, and every drop using the product reflects the change on its next publish.
If a push fails
If the store rejects the push, you'll see a Push failed toast with the error. Most failures are transient — try again. If it keeps failing, check your Shopify connection in Settings, or contact help@theprintspace.co.uk with the product name.
