The Paper Type card on AG lets you pick from 9 papers, with 3 recommended options surfaced first. It's the first step of the step-by-step order journey (select images in the library → Order Prints → Choose step by step).
Card behaviour
When you reach the Paper Type card during the order journey:
- A Top recommendations group appears first, with 3 papers picked from your image's tags (portrait, landscape, architecture, etc.).
- The full list follows below a divider — Giclée Fine Art (7) and C-Type Photographic (2); no expand step, every paper is visible.
- Click any paper to see its weight, surface description, and category. A View website link at the top opens theprintspace's product page.
- Click Confirm.
Recommendation logic
The card reads tags on your image and picks 3 papers it thinks suit it best:
- Portraits → Hahnemühle Photo Rag, Hahnemühle Pearl, Canson Baryta.
- Architecture / urban → Fuji Gloss, Canson Baryta, Hahnemühle German Etching.
- Landscape / nature → Hahnemühle Photo Rag, German Etching, Fuji Matt.
Recommendations are starting points — you can always pick any of the 9.
How the categories differ
- Giclée Fine Art — pigment inkjet on cotton or alpha-cellulose papers. Texture-rich, fine-art feel.
- C-Type Photographic — chromogenic process, photo paper. Smoother, more punchy, photographic look.
Either is archival (80+ years).
Paper info on the card
Each paper card shows:
- Name (e.g., "Hahnemühle Photo Rag").
- Weight (e.g., "308gsm") — heavier = more substantial feel.
- Description — texture and tonal character.
- Category — Giclée Fine Art or C-Type Photographic (shown on recommended papers).
- View website — the link at the top of the card opens theprintspace's paper page in a new tab.

If you already know which paper you want (e.g., from a previous order), scroll past the Top recommendations group and click your preferred paper in the full list below.
After picking
The chosen paper drives:
- Pricing — different papers have slightly different per-area costs.
- Allowed mounting options — cotton-rag papers can't dry-mount; the system filters mounting options accordingly.
- Surface character — affects how the print looks and feels in hand.
