Quick guide

  • Photographs → Hahnemühle Photo Rag (fine-art) or Fuji Matt (photographic feel).
  • Portraits → Hahnemühle Photo Rag, Hahnemühle Pearl, or Canson Baryta.
  • Architecture / urban → Fuji Gloss or Canson Baryta for impact, German Etching for textured contrast.
  • Painterly / illustration → Hahnemühle Photo Rag, German Etching, Cotton Textured, or Bamboo.
  • Eco-conscious choice → Hahnemühle Bamboo.

Weight matters

Heavier papers (308–310 gsm) feel more substantial and "fine art." Lighter papers (231–260 gsm) are still archival but feel more photographic / less hand-finished. If you want a print that feels gallery-grade in the hand, default to one of the heavier Hahnemühle papers.
