How to extract styles from a website

Point Escher at any web page and it generates Page Style options from that page's look — colours, typography, button styling. Useful for matching your own portfolio or an inspiration site.

This lives in the drop wizard only, on the Page Design step. There's no URL-extraction entry point on the Settings → Page Styles tab (its only theme import is the separate Import from Theme button, which copies from your active store theme, not from a URL).

The flow

1. On the wizard's Page Design step, click From URL.
2. Paste the web address and submit (the tick button or Enter). It's checked first — it must look like a real public address (a plain word, a localhost/127.0.0.1 address, or a file:// URL is rejected with a hint).
3. A spinner runs while we scan the page and generate options. This takes a little while; the messages rotate, and a "taking a bit longer" note appears if it runs long. You can Cancel at any point — your URL stays in the box.
4. On success you get a brief "Theme extracted!" flash, then the option browser.

Picking a theme

Extraction returns several AI-generated theme options, not one fixed result.

• Browse them with the dots (or the arrows) below the preview. The counter reads "X of N".
• Click a dot to select that option — a green tick marks the selected one.
• Click Save & Apply.

Save & Apply creates a new style preset named after the source site (e.g. example.com Theme), applies it to this drop's page, and selects it in your preset list.

After saving

You land on a small "Theme saved!" screen with two choices:

• Customize — opens the live-preview branding editor so you can fine-tune colours, typography and the rest before moving on.
• Done — keeps the preset as-is and returns to the wizard.

This editor is the branding editor, not the full Page Styles form. You can still edit the saved preset later from the Settings → Page Styles tab.

If you change your mind

Cancel on the option browser discards the extraction (confirm in the dialog). Nothing is saved, and you can extract again from the same URL whenever you like.
