When you set up a drop, the artwork analysis suggests a paper for each image. It only ever recommends Giclée papers. It will never suggest C-Type — even for photographic work. This is deliberate, not a bug.
What the recommendation does
For each artwork the engine picks exactly one paper, always from the seven Giclée art papers:
- Hahnemühle Photo Rag
- Hahnemühle German Etching
- Ilford Cotton Textured
- Canson Baryta
- Hahnemühle Pearl
- Hahnemühle Bamboo
- Epson Semi Gloss
The recommended paper gets a Recommended badge in the Paper choice card.
Why C-Type is never recommended
The two C-Type photographic papers — Fuji Matt and Fuji Gloss — are left out of the recommendable list on purpose. The engine only ever recommends Giclée, so C-Type will never appear as a suggestion, however photographic your image is.
C-Type is still available — it's just a manual choice, not an automatic one.
How to pick C-Type anyway
If your work is photographic and you want C-Type:
- Open the Paper choice card.
- Click See other papers to reveal the full list.
- Pick Fuji Matt or Fuji Gloss yourself.
That overrides the recommendation. Your manual choice is used for the whole drop.
A note on pricing
The recommendation never sets a price. Once a paper is chosen, the price for each size is worked out automatically from theprintspace's live pricing — it isn't guessed by the analysis. Switching from a recommended Giclée paper to a manual C-Type one re-prices the same way.
