Using Instagram to sell art prints
Instagram is one of the strongest platforms for selling art online because it lets you build a direct, visual relationship with collectors and then drive them to your store. The key is to grow an engaged following, then convert that attention through print drops and your email list.
How to use it well:
- Grow reach with Reels. Short video gets shown to people beyond your followers, so it's your best tool for finding new collectors. Lead with a hook and tell a story.
- Use carousels to launch drops. Their mixed image-and-video format is great for narrative: show works in progress, the finished pieces, an unboxing, or a print on a wall.
- Be prolific with Stories. Stories carry clickable links, making them one of the best ways to send engaged followers straight to your store or sign-up page.
- Keep your link in bio current. Point it to your active drop during a sale, and to your email sign-up between drops.
- Write clear, varied calls to action. Separate the call to action from your caption with a line break and mark it clearly. Vary the wording so people don't go blind to it.
- Run drops with real deadlines. Urgency and scarcity turn passive followers into buyers.
Measure what matters: compare a Reel's plays to your follower count to see if it reached new people, and watch how many profile viewers click through to your link, which tells you how well your calls to action convert. Refine from there.
